How it works

01

POST an input

A URL we can fetch, or a direct upload URL we hand back to your browser.

02

We encode

Eleven renditions, AV1 where it pays, plus a thumbnail sheet and a storyboard track.

03

You embed

Our player, your player, or a plain HLS URL. Signed or public, your choice.

04

You measure

Per-view events streamed to your warehouse, or queried through the API.

Delivery

The ladder, and why it is long

Eleven renditions sounds excessive until you look at real viewer throughput. Half of all playback happens below 4 Mbit/s, and the gap between 1080p and 720p is where most rebuffering lives.

RenditionBitrateShare of minutes
2160p AV112.0 Mbit/s6%
1440p AV17.2 Mbit/s9%
1080p AV14.4 Mbit/s24%
1080p H.2645.6 Mbit/s18%
720p H.2642.8 Mbit/s21%
540p H.2641.5 Mbit/s14%
360p H.2640.7 Mbit/s8%

What comes with every asset

Thumbnails and storyboards

A sprite sheet plus a WebVTT storyboard track, so hover scrubbing works without extra requests.

Signed playback

JWT-signed playback IDs with expiry, viewer binding and optional geo restriction, verified at the edge.

Captions and transcripts

Auto-generated in 31 languages, editable, delivered as WebVTT segments alongside the media.

Quality of experience

Startup time, rebuffer ratio and bitrate distribution per viewer, per country, per device class.

Live and VOD

The same API. Push RTMP or SRT, get a low-latency HLS output and an automatic recording.

No lock-in

Plain HLS and DASH URLs. Take your originals and your analytics history whenever you like.

Common questions

No. Every asset exposes standard HLS and DASH manifests. The player is a convenience with analytics wired in, not a requirement.
