The ladder, and why it is long
Eleven renditions sounds excessive until you look at real viewer throughput. Half of all playback happens below 4 Mbit/s, and the gap between 1080p and 720p is where most rebuffering lives.

Auto-generated in 31 languages, editable, delivered as WebVTT segments alongside the media.
Quality of experience
Startup time, rebuffer ratio and bitrate distribution per viewer, per country, per device class.
Live and VOD
The same API. Push RTMP or SRT, get a low-latency HLS output and an automatic recording.
